Sometimes the best way to resolve a persistent or nagging problem is to try a new solution focused pathway. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) can provide a new horizon of options especially for those who do not do well in talk therapy settings. EAP can also provide a bridge over any ruts or gaps in traditional therapy progress by highlighting the root or source of the issue.
EAP adult groups are solution-focused and experientially designed to create a safe and interactive environment for anyone who is struggling with emotional/mental health issues to find their own best answers. When incorporating horses into the group session, it can allow clients to explore elements that have been blocking personal growth; such as - anger, anxiety, depression, lack of confidence, co-dependency, low self-worth, mistrust, failed communication, and so much more! You will be given the opportunity to interact with Horses, who are non-judgmental and can give honest feedback to emotions/intentions, while receiving support, encouragement, understanding, and inspiration by others facing similar issues. In this unique environment, clients have the opportunity to gain various perspectives and ideas, and then try them out to see what works best for them through generating life metaphors to take outside of the session.
Zero horse experience is needed to participate and benefit! While horseback riding can provide many benefits the focus of EAP is in utilizing ‘the way of the horse’ to address emotional/ mental health issues and this is done very effectively within group dynamics using ground-based activities (no riding) with our horses to achieve treatment goals. The answers to your complex questions might just be un-locked with the help of…a Horse. Discoveries such as this can provide a place of strength from within for the rest of your life!
